A General Contractors Association of Hawaii signature event, the Installation Ceremony is a time to thank the GCA Board of Directors, welcome in the new Board Officers and Members, and reflect on the state of the Industry and Association.

The GCA’s annual Installation Ceremony was held on January 20, 2024 at The Royal Hawaiian, A Luxury Collection Resort, Waikiki.

Along with the new slate of GCA Officers and Board members being introduced, the president title officially changed hands from Steve Baginski of Kaikor Construction Group to Michael Young of Albert C. Kobayashi, Inc.

The GCA also recognized the contributions of two committees:

Outstanding Committee Award: The GCA DOT (Department of Transportation) Committee, chaired by Colin Ching of Hawaiian Dredging Construction Co., was named most outstanding committee. The DOT Committee identified ways to increase efficiency to implement DOT projects in a streamlined manner. The committee has openly discussed a number of issues relating to federal aid projects, the design of portable concrete barriers, and timetables to obtain permits for projects on the state highways.

Most Improved Committee: The American Institute of Architects Honolulu, the General Contractors Association of Hawaii, and American Council of Engineering Companies of Hawaii (AIA-GCA-ACECH) Committee, chaired by Heather de la Garza of Albert C. Kobayashi, Inc. was recognized for being the most improved committee. The committee has been instrumental in creating a better understanding of each other’s roles and concerns in the industry and the committee has fostered better relationships between the members of the organizations.

To close out the night, multi-award winning husband and wife duo Kala'e + Kalena Parish performed and entertained the guests with their awesome vocals and local country tunes.
