Joshua Au named GCA Construction Engineering Instructor at UH Manoa
The University of Hawai'i's College of Engineering has announced the appointment of Joshua Ka Tung Au as a new faculty member in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering. This appointment is made possible through a special faculty position funded by the GCA Education Foundation (GCAEF), aimed at strengthening ties between the construction industry and academia.
The GCAEF-funded position is a strategic initiative designed to bring industry expertise directly into the classroom, enhancing the practical education of students and fostering innovation in construction engineering. It reflects the GCA’s commitment to developing a skilled workforce that meets the needs of Hawai'i’s construction sector.
Au brings over 20 years of experience in construction engineering, project management, and education. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering specializing in Construction Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley. Au has worked on significant projects both locally and internationally, including his most recent role as Project Engineer at Allied Builders System. His teaching philosophy emphasizes active learning, real-world problem solving, and student engagement.
