  • Build Hawaii Awards

    The General Contractors Association (GCA) of Hawaii celebrated its 16th Annual Build Hawaii Awards program.  The April 27, 2019 awards dinner was attended by over 300 people at the beautiful Hilton Hawaiian Village.  Layne Machida, 2019 GCA President and President of Civil-Mechanical, welcomed and opened up the evening. 

    GCA awarded 22 construction projects with its prestigious “Award of Excellence”, the “Grand Award” was presented to Hensel Phelps Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Tunnel Influent Pump Station and Headworks Facility and Kaneohe/Kailua Tunnel Influent Facility project.  The 2019 GCA “Construction Industry Partnership Award” was presented to Ms. Christine Camp, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Avalon Group.  GCA also recognized the 2018 graduating class for the AGC Project Manager Development and Lean Construction programs.

    Safety Awards

    Construction Industry Honors Safety Award Recipient

    The General Contractors Association (GCA) of Hawaii honored twenty-seven contractors at its annual safety award banquet.  The “Military Appreciation” theme banquet was held on June 5, 2019 at the Pomaika’i Ballrooms at Dole Cannery with over 230 in attendance.  The awards banquet celebrates the achievements and success of outstanding contractors who excel in the area of providing a safe and healthy workplace. Preventing workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities through training, awareness and following strict safety procedures ensures safeguarding our workplace. Safety awards were given in the following categories, Best in Category with a Zero Incident Rate, Zero Incident Rate and Most Improved.
