2020 Build Hawaii Virtual Awards
July 16, 2020
For the first time in its 17-year history, the General Contractors Association (GCA) of Hawaii’s Build Hawaii Awards program was presented virtually. Like many other organizations, the GCA quickly realized that a 300-person event was not likely to happen under these global pandemic circumstances, and the GCA Build Hawaii Awards Committee quickly sprang into action to create the blueprint to present the awards online.
Project teams representing 20 contractor members held separate, social distanced gatherings to view the awards presentation live on Zoom on the evening of July 16, 2020. Of the 53 award entries, 22 projects were awarded the “Award of Excellence” for being the best in each category. You can learn more about each of these outstanding projects in this special section.
The judges also selected one project to be awarded the prestigious “Grand Award,” the most impressive project of them all. This year, the honor went to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial & Floating Dock damage repairs project completed by general contractor, Sea Engineering, Inc.
On behalf of the GCA of Hawaii, mahalo to all of the contractors who participated and to all of our sponsors whose generous support made the 2020 Build Hawaii Awards possible. Congratulations to all of the winners!
2020 GCA President
